Start with the contract, not the car
Record the base price, mandatory local charges, deposit, excess and optional protection separately. A zero deposit does not automatically mean zero excess, and a product sold by a broker may reimburse a charge rather than remove it at the rental desk.

Choose for Madeira’s terrain
A compact car is easier on narrow streets and in small parking spaces. An automatic can reduce workload on steep starts, but transmission alone does not guarantee strong hill performance. Match passengers and luggage honestly, then confirm the booked category rather than assuming a particular model.
